Hello, my name is Marty Josey and this is my personal website. For my professional site please go to www.verticalconnectioncoaching.com. I’m the author of See You On the Mat: A story of Perspective, Resilience, and Transformation and my new book The Story of Charles.
The older I become the more I realize that life is truly to be savored. We only have so much time here so we shouldn’t waste it focusing on things that aren’t important and that don’t fulfill us. I believe God created all of us with certain gifts and strengths. I also believe that when we use these gifts it not only pleases God but leads to a strong sense of purpose and meaning in life. |
I have lived an interesting and amazing life, filled with joy, heartache,
struggle, pain, and happiness. I have been blessed beyond measure and
sincerely try to live in gratitude (always a work in progress). I love people
(most of the time :) ) and believe that God has called me to work with and
help people that struggle or have struggled with similar challenges that
I’ve struggled with.
I grew up in the Florida Panhandle but have been fortunate to have lived in a
variety of places including Alabama, Georgia, Texas, California, Japan,
and North Carolina (where I’ve been for the past twenty Three years.
|
I’m an Army veteran and served active duty as a Radio Teletype operator with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (Ft. Bliss, Tx) and later as a Combat Medic in the reserves. I owned an integrated wellness center for years which provided stress management consulting, massage therapy, life coaching, fitness coaching, etc. and served as stress management counselor to Duke University Medical systems’ Cardiac rehab and wellness programs, and life coach for their employee wellness and weight loss programs. |
I have an MSN degree with board certification in Psychiatric and mental health nursing, and multiple coaching certifications. Coaching is my passion.
My other passion is martial arts. I hold black belts in Kenpo Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).
In my 50's I completed a marathon, went skydiving for the first time, and won a gold medal at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Masters world championships in Las Vegas. I believe that life should be lived to it's fullest and although we can't stop ageing, we have a choice in how we age and that we can live lives full of vitality, purpose, and meaning well into our "golden" years.
I believe that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing in this life.
